Lance Nelson is the Chief Innovation Officer and oversees the mental health and social health programs. He was born and raised in Coos Bay and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1990. He attended University of Oregon and Northwest Nazarene University and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Secondary Education and a Master’s of Science in Community Counseling. He specializes in Acute Mental Health and Crisis Work and Adolescent Behavioral Health. Lance has extensive experience in the mental health field which include working in acute psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, private practice counseling and as a mental health crisis responder. His responsibilities include overseeing the clinic’s commitment to its mission, the development of new programs and the Mental Health, Social Health, and Behavioral Health programs. His current projects include overseeing the mobile health unit, the development and roll out of an Autism Support Program and also finding creative ways to positively impact the social determinants of health for our patients that are often overlooked. His time outside Waterfall Clinic finds him fishing, hiking and enjoying the Oregon Coast with his wife Anna and their family.
